La notizia diffusa dal Principe ereditario di Dubai e Presidente del Consiglio Esecutivo, HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, è di quelle che devono fa riflettere non poco tutti noi.
Questo il testo riportato dal Principe in un post apparso sulla sua pagina Linkedln alle 11 circa del 2 Luglio 2024:
“Dubai ospiterà l’ICCV 2029, la più importante conferenza mondiale sulla computer vision e l’IA. Il prestigioso evento riunirà più di 15.000 leader del settore, esperti e funzionari per plasmare il futuro globale dell’IA e della computer vision. Con il suo fiorente ecosistema di innovazione e creatività e la sua eccezionale ospitalità, Dubai rappresenta la cornice ideale per questo incontro tra le menti tecnologiche più brillanti del mondo. La conferenza contribuirà a realizzare la visione di Dubai per il futuro della tecnologia e gli sforzi degli Emirati Arabi Uniti per essere uno dei principali protagonisti della rivoluzione dell’IA”.
Ci sono modi diversi per guardare al futuro e progettarlo in una epoca di profondi cambiamenti:
- l’uno, improntato al conservatorismo, è quello tipico di chi punta a frenare con ogni possibile mezzo a disposizione (guerra inclusa) lo sviluppo altrui per mantenere intatti i propri privilegi e le proprie posizioni di leadership acquisite in precedenza e
- l’altro, basato sull’accettazione della realtà per quella che è e non per quella che si vorrebbe fosse, è quello tipico di chi accetta le nuove sfide per cercare di mettere a frutto quanto vi è stato e vi è di positivo nel passato per volgere il tutto a proprio favore puntando sulla propria crescita e non, come detto, sulla depressione o sul contenimento altrui.
L’errore più grande che in questo senso possiamo ascrivere all’Occidente, Federazione Russa compresa, è quello di non aver capito –e quanto sta accadendo in Europa lo testimonia ampiamente, non da ultimo con il risultato elettorale francese– consiste dell’aver abbracciato il liberismo fraintendendone la valenza che non è quella di privilegiare l’esercizio del potere solo in funzione della crescita degli utili delle imprese in ogni modo possibile, magari signoreggiando, soggiogandole, nelle aree più depresse per sfruttarle anche come forza lavoro, in un contesto in cui la globalizzazione vuol dire delocalizzazione dei propri feudi, bensì quello di promuovere una crescita reale, anche e forse soprattutto culturale, che coinvolga l’intera comunità nazionale: una comunità nazionale che non può essere ancora vista solo come un soggetto meramente potenzialmente economico da tenere buono con la concessione di beni e servizi finanziati da un certo punto in poi rigorosamente a debito.
In questo senso il recente voto francese dovrebbe essere letto, alla luce di queste considerazioni, come il voto di protesta di chi è stato reso consapevole dei propri diritti senza essere edotto del come –e soprattutto del perché– quei diritti sono stati concessi e mantenuti in essere.
Purtroppo nessuno ha spiegato ai Francesi, ma la stessa cosa è accaduta –mutatis mutandis– pure in Italia così come in moltissimi altri Paesi europei, che il loro diritto, tanto per fare degli esempi, ad avere prezzi contenuti dei carburanti e ad una politica pensionistica di favore nonostante l’allungamento della vita media e l’invecchiamento della popolazione in un contesto economico che privilegia il terziario, ha potuto essere garantito così come ne hanno sin qui goduto solo finché ha retto il dominio incondizionato di Parigi sulla Francafrique.
Incrinatosi quel sistema, sistema usato da un certo punto in poi solo per evitare interferenze nelle attività dei potentati economici, veri detentori del primato politico, per evitare che i nodi venissero al pettine, ecco che i Francesi si sono trovati a dover fare i conti con la realtà di un Paese che vive da tempo ben al di sopra delle proprie possibilità e pensa che puntando sul nazionalismo risolverà i propri problemi dall’oggi al domani con qualche mancetta in più.
Gli errori di Macron sono stati enormi, ma sono gli stessi che i vincitori delle attuali elezioni francesi hanno contribuito a far passare sotto silenzio e che ora dovrebbero emendare, secondo le illusioni che hanno determinato l’attuale risultato politico, con qualche provvedimento legislativo ad hoc: peccato che quello che manca sono i soldi per farlo e non sarà certamente la nuova leadership francese a tirarli fuori da un qualche magico cappello a cilindro.
Che la situazione sia grave e che le attuali leadership europee ed occidentali in genere siano al momento alla frutta lo testimonia anche l’ultima uscita di Mario Draghi allorché, poche settimane fa, presentando il proprio piano economico per la ripresa della EU ha parlato della mole di risparmi privati presenti nelle banche europee che per la loro permanenza fuori dal mercato in qualche modo ostacolano il rilancio dell’Unione!
E se a dire queste cose non è uno qualsiasi, ma l’ex Presidente della BCE, decisamente credo ci sia parecchio da preoccuparsi perché vuol dire che anche là ove si potrebbe il buio della ragione e del buongusto regnano sovrani e si accingono a generare i mostri peggiori, a cominciare dalla guerra.
Da quella guerra che nessuno vuole, ma che di fatto potrebbe scoppiare sia pure ‘solo’ localmente perché a questo conduce l’aver promosso la decrescita di comunità nazionali costituite da individui abituati, per dirla con una metafora, ad aprire il frigorifero e la dispensa di casa per servirsi di tutto punto senza mai domandarsi chi, perché e soprattutto come qualcuno li ha riempiti. È questa una vecchia logica del potere, una logica ben nota fin dall’antichità e codificata dalla ben nota espressione “panem et circenses”, la ben nota locuzione latina usata nell’antica Roma per sintetizzare le aspirazioni della plebe o, in epoca contemporanea, in riferimento a strategie politiche demagogiche.
“Chi, perché e soprattutto come qualcuno ha riempio ‘quel’ frigorifero e ‘quella’ dispensa” è la domanda cruciale che i più dovrebbero porsi e porre a chi tanto parla e discetta senza mai venire al dunque. Tanto affermo perché ognuno dei Paesi occidentali ha avuto ed ha al comando il proprio Macron di turno e non ne emenderà gli errori con una crocetta su una scheda elettorale che ha oggi il valore di una promessa meno veritiera di una schedina Totocalcio o di un Gratta&Vinci.
A HEALTHY BATH OF REALITY! THE WEST AT THE CROSSROADS
The news released by the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is one that must give us all pause for thought in no small part.
This is the text quoted by the Prince in a post that appeared on his Linkedln page at about 11 a.m. on July 2, 2024: “Dubai will host ICCV 2029, the world’s premier conference on computer vision and AI. The prestigious event will bring together more than 15,000 industry leaders, experts and officials to shape the global future of AI and computer vision. With its thriving ecosystem of innovation and creativity and its exceptional hospitality, Dubai is the ideal setting for this gathering of the world’s brightest technological minds. The conference will help realize Dubai’s vision for the future of technology and the UAE’s efforts to be a major player in the AI revolution.”
There are different ways to look at the future and design it in an era of profound change:
- one, marked by conservatism, is typical of those who aim to curb by every possible means at their disposal (including war) the development of others in order to keep their previously acquired privileges and leadership positions intact and
- the other, based on accepting reality for what it is and not for what one would like it to be, is that typical of those who accept new challenges to try to capitalize on what has been and is positive in the past in order to turn it to their own favor by focusing on their own growth and not, as mentioned, on the depression or containment of others.
The biggest mistake that in this sense we can ascribe to the West, including the Russian Federation, is that of not having understood-and what is happening in Europe amply testifies to this, not least with the French election result-is to have embraced liberalism by misunderstanding its value, which is not to prioritize the exercise of power only as a function of the growth of corporate profits in any way possible, perhaps lorded over, subjugating them, in the most depressed areas in order to exploit them even as a labor force, in a context where globalization means relocating one’s fiefdoms, but that of promoting real growth, including and perhaps above all cultural growth, involving the entire national community: a national community that cannot yet be seen merely as a merely potentially economic entity to be kept good by the provision of goods and services financed from a certain point onward strictly by debt.
In this sense, the recent French vote should be read, in light of these considerations, as the protest vote of those who were made aware of their rights without being informed of how-and especially why-those rights were granted and maintained.
Unfortunately, no one has explained to the French, but the same thing has happened -mutatis mutandis- also in Italy as well as in a great many other European countries, that their right, just to give examples, to have low fuel prices and a favorable pension policy despite the lengthening average life span and aging population in an economic context that privileges the tertiary sector, could only be guaranteed as they have enjoyed it so far as long as the unconditional domination of Paris over Francafrique held.
Having cracked that system, a system used from a certain point on only to avoid interference in the activities of the economic potentates, the true holders of political supremacy, to prevent the knots from coming to a head, here were the French coming to terms with the reality of a country that has been living well above its means for a long time and thinks that by focusing on nationalism it will solve its problems overnight with a few extra hand-outs.
Macron’s mistakes have been enormous, but they are the same ones that the winners of the current French elections helped to sweep under the rug and that they should now amend, according to the illusions that determined the current political outcome, with some ad hoc legislative measures: too bad that what is lacking is the money to do that and it will certainly not be the new French leadership that will pull it out of some magical top hat.
That the situation is serious and that the current European and Western leaderships in general are at the moment on the brink is also testified to by Mario Draghi’s latest outing when, a few weeks ago, presenting his own economic plan for the recovery of the EU, he spoke of the amount of private savings in European banks that by their permanence outside the market in some way hinder the revival of the Union!
And if it is not just anyone who says these things, but the former President of the ECB, definitely I think there is a lot to worry about because it means that even there where one could the darkness of reason and good taste reign supreme and are about to generate the worst monsters, starting with war.
From that war that no one wants, but which in fact could break out albeit ‘only’ locally because that is what promoting the degrowth of national communities made up of individuals accustomed, to put it metaphorically, to opening the refrigerator and the pantry at home to serve themselves full without ever wondering who, why and especially how someone filled them. This is an old logic of power, a logic well known since antiquity and codified by the well-known expression “panem et circenses,” the well-known Latin phrase used in ancient Rome to summarize the aspirations of the plebs or, in contemporary times, in reference to demagogic political strategies.
“Who, why and especially how someone filled ‘that’ refrigerator and ‘that’ pantry” is the crucial question that most should ask themselves and those who talk and discuss so much without ever coming to the point. I say this because each of the Western countries has had and has its own Macron in charge and will not amend its mistakes with a check mark on a ballot paper that has today the value of a promise less truthful than a Totocalcio slip or a Scratch card.
