(Seneca) Dal, come detto, “De brevitate vitae”.

Uccidere i bestemmiatori (Lev 24:14)

Uccidere i falsi profeti (Zacc 13:3)

Uccidere gli indovini (Lev 20:27)

Uccidere i non ebrei (Dt 20,16-17)

Uccidere i figli dei peccatori (Isaia 14:21)

Uccidere gli omosessuali (Rm 1:21-32)

Uccidere i non credenti (2 Cron 15, 12-13)

Uccidere chiunque maledica Dio (Lv 24,16)

Uccidere tutti i maschi dopo aver vinto le battaglie (Dt 20,13)

Uccidere i figli disobbedienti (Es 21:17, Mc 7:10)

e:

Uccidere chiunque uccida qualcuno (Lev 24,17)

MAN DOES NOT LIVE BY GEOPOLITICS ALONE: N.W.O AND HISTORICAL EBB AND FLOW

The day of April 25, 2024, the umpteenth day of remembrance that in fact remembers nothing and commemorates everything in order to offer us the umpteenth succession of catch phrases, opened for me with the wise proposition of a quotation from Seneca taken from “De brevitate vitae,” as well as a brief note regarding the holiday celebrated in ancient Rome on this day: that called “Robigalia” which fell on the VII Kalendas Maias (precisely the 25th of April).

Both texts were for me harbingers of a couple of reflections that, given the times, I consider as pertinent as ever since they impose a salutary consideration of something that the prevailing delusion of omnipotence of the Earth Dwarfs, usually called “Greats,” seems to have left aside for the sole purpose of pursuing, by manipulating the most, material interests that they will soon have to leave due to over-ageing and with very little honor.

The passages recalled are as follows:

“No one will return the years to you, no one will return you to yourself; time of life will go the way it has come and it will not turn back or halt its course, it will not make a noise, it will give no sign of its speed, it will flow in silence, it will not lengthen by edict of kings or favor of the people, it will run as it started from the first day, it will never stop, never pause. What will happen? You are busy, life hurries on, and meanwhile death will be there, for which, whether you like it or not, you must have time.” (Seneca) From, as mentioned, “De brevitate vitae.”

In the calendar of ancient Rome…VII Kalendas Maias – [April 25] – Robigalia “At the fifth mile of the Via Clodia the Quirinal Flamine sacrifice a lamb in the wood sacred to the god Robigo, against the blight of the harvest.” Robigalia. These were the festivals dedicated to the goddess Robigalia/Rubigo* so that wheat would not ripen too early exposing it to the attack of the fungus that caused “robigine,” or “wheat rust,” a devastating disease for crops. During the Robigalia, held April 25-28, the Romans prayed to the goddess and made various offerings to her so that she would protect the grain from disease and make the harvests abundant. This type of ritual derives from the Archaic era, when the Great Mothers were worshipped; in this case the Red Goddess, that is, the fierce aspect of the goddess that had to be sedated with the contribution of offerings, sacrifices and prayers. A very similar thing happened in Egypt for the festivals dedicated to Sekhmet: to quench her thirst for blood, red beer was offered to her. Red is the leading color: the particle ro- indicates something of that color and in our Italian language we find it in the words “red,” “pink,” “ruby,” and of course in “rust. Rhodes is called the island of roses, while in Italy the city of roses is Rovigo. Conceptually, one says “seeing red” when one is angry. In Christianity, April 25 celebrates the “Rogations,” or the blessings of the fields, especially the wheat fields, and there is historical evidence that this feast derives from the Robigalia.

The scientific, technical, financial … world have been my bread and butter for decades, but without history, the constant and systematic study of it nothing would be comprehensible of what is happening today since the historical courses and recourses, in my opinion, are only the consequence of the fact that human beings have always pursued the same goals and stubbornly do so by retracing the same paths because of little, or no memory of their past: that is, of that fundamental knowledge that would enable him, if not to amend his goals, at least to avoid pursuing them by retracing the usual paths that in the end only lead him to run into the same walls for millennia.

In this sense, the fact that Seneca’s reflection brought to my mind an aphorism that verbatim reads “Life is what happens to you while you are busy making other plans,” which famously appears in the song “Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy),” written and performed by John Lennon, released on the 1980 album Double Fantasy, the last Lennon and Ono album released before his death, nothing more than a 1957 quotation from Allen Saunders, which in turn takes the form of a kind of summary of Seneca’s reflection, cannot exempt us from noting how the same concept has been re-proposed after almost 2,000 years passed, it seems, in vain Unfortunately, human history consists of journeys and retraces that are always the same in substance, much to the good of appearance, for the simple fact that, as a collective as well as an individual, we have no memory, much less awareness of the flow of time.

We do not have it of our collective, as well as our personal affairs because we are unacquainted with the prior ones of our fathers and ourselves, so that we learn nothing from the mistakes of those and nothing from our own.

Mistakes that are always repeating themselves and condemning to the dynamic immobility of those who flail about without construct.

A bit like romantic relationships, which, just to mention, for the most part, in the lives of the vast majority of people take the form of the collection of new faces with whom to recite the same mostly unsuccessful script.

Life in this way, whether of peoples or of individuals very little matters, becomes a vicious circle that sees one and another spinning, but better I would say pirouetting about themselves remaining stationary in place, getting nowhere until death.

That death which for most is the only goal reached because paradoxically of the passage of time one realizes only when the one at one’s disposal is exhausted.

In the end those who have no memory and awareness of the past have no future and live only an illusory present.

In this sense, the interesting pointing out that the Christian cult recalled here is nothing but the fruit of pagan contamination (a common practice that mutated the ancient pagan polytheism into the Catholic cultic practice centered -for mere temporal reasons- on the figures of the patron saints), allows us, if not to understand, at least to shed some light on the folly of the religious oppositions and consequent struggles of past and present ages.

What, indeed, would become of the reading of centuries of wars if one only kept in mind that one thing is religious sentiment-and the ethics that descend from it-and quite another is the dogmatic set of beliefs and, alas, precepts, which are, to everyone’s good grace, merely the sad fruit of a commodification for the use and consumption of denominational as well as secular temporal powers? And in this sense, if this were not so, what would have allowed Luther and his critique of the Roman Curia to assert itself, what would have brought about the Sunni-Shia rift in the Islamic landscape and still fomented in times near us, albeit this time on a secular and not a confessional basis as in the time of the Crusades, presenting it as a “clash of civilizations,” the opposition between a part of the Islamic political world and the West? And what about the new emergence of anti-Semitism as a political tool to plead the redefinition of the Equilibria in a geostrategically crucial area such as the Middle East with the goodwill of everyone, the US, China and the Russian Federation in the lead?

The proof? How many polemics, as mentioned above, and accusations of fanaticism have been dusted off and made against Islamic fundamentalists and these days increasingly also against, as in the past, Jews? How many cultural ostracisms and denunciations have been, respectively, promoted and moved against the exponents of orthodoxies and intransigents of every ad hoc instrumentalized religious faith and creed? How many political slogans have been coined and disseminated, even in recent times, to claim the right to the prevalence of our values while pointing to the public ridicule of those of others, and with them those who pursue political and cultural goals that we Westerners brand, for mere homegrown utilitarianism, as the fruit of fanaticism son of a profession of faith contrary to the values enunciated in the -by the way, everywhere systematically disregarded- “Charter of Human Rights”?

We need only flip through the pages of the major newspapers and magazines circulated around the world to realize what he meant.

Now the question that arises is, historically speaking: who has ever posed and who is also currently posing the problem of understanding and asking for an account of why the text containing the precepts recalled below has never been the subject of a political rereading in a critical and self-critical key in order to make in the first place us amends for our mistakes, so as to put ourselves in the best position to help others amend theirs, instead of pretending that nothing has happened or, which is even worse, going on to hypocritically secularize the whole thing by talking about a “clash of civilizations,” to sum up at the very moment when political dissent is mutating into a revival of the anti-Semitism of the worst times?

To better understand what I have proposed here-please note, not as an atheist or even as an agnostic-read, as food for thought, the following:

Precepts from the Old and New Testaments:

Killing witches (Ex 22:18)

Killing adulterers (Lev 20:10)

Killing blasphemers (Lev 24:14)

Killing false prophets (Zech 13:3)

Killing diviners (Lev 20:27)

Killing non-Jews (Deut 20:16-17)

Killing the children of sinners (Isaiah 14:21)

Kill homosexuals (Rom 1:21-32)

Kill unbelievers (2 Chron 15:12-13)

Kill anyone who curses God (Lev 24:16)

Kill all males after winning battles (Deut 20:13)

Kill disobedient sons (Ex 21:17, Mk 7:10)

Killing foreigners near a church (Num 1:48-51)

Killing anyone who works on the Sabbath (Ex 31:15)

Killing any bride discovered not a virgin (Deut 22:21)

Killing anyone who curses his father or mother (Lev 20:9)

Killing men who have sex with other men (Lev 20:13)

Killing anyone who worships the wrong god (Num 25:1-9)

and:

Kill whoever kills anyone (Lev 24:17)

In the exegesis texts, one is rightly invited to read these precepts carefully and avoid easy stigmatization since it would be inappropriate to judge these expressions according to modern ideas, but more appropriate to do so according to those of the times and places where they were used, where many of them would not sound as they do to us. So much is stated as the Design was to raise hatred toward idolatry and malpractice so that these commandments are still considered well suited for this purpose today.

If we want this way of understanding to apply to us, why should this not apply to others?

After all, the three monotheisms gravitating on the Mediterranean all have the same polytheistic origin; the God of the Hebrews, our elder brothers in faith, was only a minor god in the Pantheon of the ancient tribes of Israel who was chosen as the aggregating element of the tribes themselves insofar as common to all of them, and then mutated into the one God worshipped. Thus came to us its creed amended by the preaching of the Christ and thus it transited to the Arab tribes and was preached by Muhammad and employed by him as the aggregating factor of those communities.

Early mosques not surprisingly had two niches within them positioned in such a way as to indicate the direction to which prayers should be directed as pointing in the direction of Mecca and that of Jerusalem: the two holy cities of Islam.

It was only because of the Jewish conspiracy against Muhammad, because of the conspiracy of those among the Jews who looked with suspicion on his aggregating force-and consequently surreptitiously favored those among the Arabs who opposed him by conspiring with them-that eventually, after the so-called “Battle of the Moat” that saw the Prophet victorious, that the second niche disappeared (the one pointing in the direction of Jerusalem) from the mosques and the opposition with the Jews began: a juxtaposition that has nothing to do with faith being a distinctly political juxtaposition that has come down to the present day.

Just as for political reasons it came to the confrontation clash between Jews and Muslims, for political reasons it came to that between Christians and Muslims: something that still lingers and that we Westerners do not recognize only because we have secularized the matrix that leads us to conflate for mere strategic purposes that with religion has nothing to do and even less to do with civilization, so that the whole thing should be read as a mere conflict of interests between the potentates of all parties involved.

The failure to recognize this and the stubbornness in not doing so re-proposes to us rather obsolete patterns and dynamics with the only variant that now among the conflicting parties is China: a fact that needs to be pondered in good time as the dynamics in Beijing may require in a rather short time strategic revisitations of no small relevance for all of us.
